Alzheimer's Treatment

Alzheimer’s is a progressive brain disorder that leads to the gradual loss of memory and thinking capacity. It is the most common cause of Dementia (memory loss) and accounts for about 60 to 80 per cent of the 10 million cases that are diagnosed every year.  Ageing is one of the major risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease but it can affect the younger population as well. There is no known cure for Alzheimer’s disease as of now, however, proper treatment and care can help to slow down its progression and add some more years to the patient’s life.

What causes Alzheimer’s disease?
The exact cause of Alzheimer’s disease is not known, however, it is believed to be caused by the abnormal accumulation of proteins, like Amyloid and Tau, within and around the cells in the brain. There are multiple factors that could be responsible for it. These include:

  • Ageing
  • Family history
  • Faulty genes
